DIGITAL RESTORATIONS
Below are personal restorations of iconic and beloved media with proper attention to detail compared to their official HD counterparts.
My desire to color videos goes back to 2014 at the age of 16, when Buffy The Vampire Slayer was remastered in high-definition.
The series was tragically mishandled by 20th Century Fox in attempt to cut costs when the team in charge failed to apply the necessary color grading and
further post-fixes (painting or cropping out cast+crew in frame not seen in its original 4:3 aspect ratio) that defined numerous scenes.
In the specific clip above, I matched the original DVD grading, but retained the new shadow details because the Season 1 DVDs suffered from a "black crush" that over-darkened several episodes.
MADONNA - MATERIAL GIRL (1985)
DIRECTED BY MARY LAMBERT

Issues addressed: color and detail
This restoration brings back the original set color and lighting that was designed to match Marilyn Monroe's iconic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes scene.
Cross-referenced with set photos which reveal the deep reds that got lost in the original mastering of the video due to overexposure and the format of the time.
The official Youtube video inadvertedly shifts the colors towards an orange tint in attempt to achieve a warm skin tone.

Notable mention
My initial "Like A Prayer" restoration caught the attention and approval of Mary Lambert in early 2022, which led me to re-doing "Material Girl" with the master file that her team sent over.

GWEN STEFANI - COOL (2005)
DIRECTED BY SOPHIE MULLER

Issues addressed: aspect ratio, detail
This restoration provides way more detail and a vertically expanded image while keeping proportions accurate to the source material.
The official Youtube video has been stretched making their faces appear wider than normal with details and grain smoothed out.

KYLIE MINOGUE - COME INTO MY WORLD (2002)
DIRECTED BY MICHEL GONDRY

Issues addressed: color and detail
This restoration retains more detail and keeps the image's integrity intact.
The official Youtube video has oversharpened edges, destroying detail and adding unfortunate haloing and anti-aliasing artifacts.
